Performers of all instruments encouraged to sign up.
Performers may perform unaccompanied or bring their own accompanist if they’d prefer.
Performances need not be “performance ready” – come as you are and gain valuable insight and experience early on in your process.
We recommend bringing a drink bottle and snacks to enjoy in the break and keep your mind fueled.
Filming & Photography
Workshop & Masterclasses will be filmed for and distributed exclusively to workshop & masterclass attendees.
By purchasing a performance or observer ticket to this masterclass, you give your permission for any photographs to be taken during the event which may be used in Morton Music’s promotional material on this website or our social media platforms.

CYO Audition & Performance Masterclass
Hi, I’m Alex.
Horn player with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, experienced teacher, and performance mindset coach, helping musicians to perform at their best under pressure when it really counts.
The winners of any audition must have not only a clear technical and musical ability, but a strong sense of determination, an iron focus, and a healthy dose of self-confidence in themselves. These are all skills that will benefit any musician, and can absolutely be developed in the practice room.
By taking part in this masterclass, you will gain guidance in how to ensure you are getting the most from your practice, the skills to actively develop your confidence, focus, and mindset, and priceless performance experience and feedback, which is so crucial for any successful audition.
My teachings are all based on the training I received while studying at the Australian National Academy of Music, which had the most transformative difference on my trajectory, and my only frustration with the experience being that I wasn’t exposed to it earlier!
